Understanding CS2 Skin Rarity

Counter-Strike 2 inherits its skin rarity system from CS:GO, with seven distinct tiers ranging from common Consumer Grade whites to ultra-rare Contraband knives. Each tier is color-coded and dictates both drop probability and market value.

The Seven Rarity Tiers

• Consumer Grade (White) — Most common, found in nearly every case opening.
• Industrial Grade (Light Blue) — Slightly rarer, still low value.
• Mil-Spec (Blue) — The most common case drop tier.
• Restricted (Purple) — Roughly 1 in 5 case openings.
• Classified (Pink) — Around 1 in 20 openings.
• Covert (Red) — Approximately 1 in 200 openings.
• Exceedingly Rare (Gold) — Knives and gloves, ~1 in 400.

How Rarity Affects Value

Rarity is the single biggest driver of skin price, but float value, pattern index, and StatTrak versions further multiply prices within a tier.
